How do you use The Chilli Oil?
The Chilli Oil is super versatile and can be used across many cuisines (not just Lankan!).
Our favourite combinations are:
Eggs and avo on toast, sandwiches, dumplings, stir fries, noodles, salads, rice and curry, dipping sauces for short eats and fried foods, drizzled over soups and stews, and if you’re game - on vanilla ice cream!
What are The Chilli Oil dietaries?
The chilli oil uses no animal products (vegan) and is gluten free. There are no nuts and is suitable for vegetarians.
How do I store The Chilli Oil?
The chilli oil is shelf stable, however we recommend keeping it in the fridge or in a dark area of the pantry to maintain its flavours for longer!
When does it expire?
Our chilli oil has a shelf life of approximately one year. Doubt you’ll be keeping it for that long though!
How spicy is it?
We like to think our chilli oil isn’t super spicy, however it does have a kick! Our aim for it is to actually have a yummy flavour as well as some heat. We don’t think you’ll break a huge sweat…
This is not what I was expecting...
There are a lot of chilli oils on the market that to us are more of a chilli crisp or crunch.
Gini Maya Chilli Oil is meant to be that - a chilli oil. In Sri Lankan cuisine especially there are chunky chilli pastes that are often mistakenly named chilli oil. That is not what this product is.
This product is an oil with chilli pieces that you can use in more ways than a regular chilli paste, such as drizzled over various meals or cooked with (eg. frying eggs in it, or adding to mayo for a chilli hit) rather than just eaten to the side of a meal.
This is not a chilli paste, crunch or crisp! Stay tuned as we expand our product range to these sorts of products in the future.
